Owners of around 500 properties in Dubuque are estimated to have participated in No Mow May. The No Mow May movement got its start in England with communities in the U.S. participating at least since 2020. This year marked the first that the movement gained significant traction in Dubuque. No Mow May participants opt not to regularly mow their lawns for the month, letting plants and flowers grow to provide food for pollinators. The City of Dubuque supported No Mow May this year and monitored participation via a registration form hosted on the Sustainable Dubuque website.
