Police say a Dubuque man opened a dozen fire hydrants without authorization. 56 year old James Davee was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday at his residence on a warrant charging first-degree criminal mischief. The City of Dubuque Water Department reported 12 fire hydrants were opened by an individual without authorization between May 28 and June 7. Police say traffic camera footage links Davee and his vehicle to a series of incidents in which hydrants were opened at locations on Salina Street, McDonald Drive, and West 32nd Street near Davee’s residence. A report says Water Department staff estimated the cost of the loss of of water, wages paid to close the hydrants and the tools used to be nearly $3500.
