Dubuque Community School Board members are expected to consider calling for an election on a proposed up-to-$150-million bond at their Monday meeting. The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Forum on Chaney Road. The meeting agenda includes considering the adoption of a resolution ordering the election on the issuance of $150 million in general obligation bonds. District staff and community members spent recent months circulating a petition to call for the November election. The petition needed to be signed by 25% of the number of people who voted in the most recent school board election. The proposed bond would help fund a variety of projects, including a new middle school at the site of the current Washington Middle School as part of the district’s efforts to consolidate from three to two middle schools by the fall of 2026. The measure would require a 60% approval rate to pass.
