A Manchester woman has been sentenced to one to two years of probation after police say she stabbed another woman. 26 year old Josephine Tompkins of Manchester received the sentence in Iowa District Court for Delaware County after pleading guilty to assault with injury, a lesser charge than her initial charge of assault with intent to inflict serious injury. Reports say that Police received a call at about 2:40 a.m. on October 24, 2022, regarding an assault at Howard Street Community Living Home in Manchester, where Tompkins lived. Cindy Hutchinson of Manchester, reported that Tompkins stabbed her while she was sleeping in the left rib area with a chopping knife. Hutchinson reported Tompkins then stabbed her in the leg. Tompkins later reported to officers that she was “hearing voices/hallucinating telling her to hurt somebody.
