State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos floated a new proposal to extend tax cuts to retirees living in Wisconsin, which comes as the state has a roughly $4 billion budget surplus heading into the new year. Republicans tried multiple times to pass an income tax cut for Wisconsinites, which Democratic Gov. Tony Evers ultimately vetoed. The Republican plans would have included tax breaks for the state’s third bracket, which includes those earning between roughly $27,000 and $304,000. Evers had previously called for a tax cut for those earning less that $100,000 per year.
