Fatal Accident in Monroe

A truck backed into a person Friday afternoon, killing them on scene. At around 3 p.m., the Monroe Police Department and Green County EMS responded to 7th Avenue on a report of a vehicle that allegedly backed into a person. The individual was reportedly pinned under the truck and may have not been breathing. Officials say the preliminary investigation found that the truck was performing a backing maneuver when it struck the person. Officers found the individual had suffered life ending injuries. According to officials, the person was pronounced dead on scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. The accident remains under investigation.
