Layoffs At Grand River Medical Group

A state filing says more than 50 people were affected during a recent round of layoffs at Grand River Medical Group. A total of 52 Grand River Medical Group employees are affected by the staff reduction, according to documents the company filed with Iowa Workforce Development. It is categorized by the state as a “mass layoff.” The medical group on Friday said that it had completed a “one-time reduction” in its workforce but did not say how many were affected or what positions they held with the company. Grand River Medical Group’s email states that the workforce reductions will not affect patient care. Greater Dubuque Development Corp.’s business directory states that the provider has 381 employees. The number of affected employees was listed on Iowa Workforce Development’s online tracker for closures and mass layoffs in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires most employers with over 100 or more employees to give advance notice of planned layoffs.
