The proposed Dubuque County budget for next fiscal year includes a handful of additional employees, which county officials believe would fulfill specific but serious needs that have troubled the departments recently. While increasing existing employees’ pay to a more competitive level has been a top priority of the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors in building the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, supervisors also have agreed to additional employees in several departments to address significant issues. They include a human resources position chiefly assigned to Sunnycrest Manor nursing home; an assistant county attorney position who would, in part, provide county government counsel; a part-time post to help the county attorney’s office review video evidence; and a full-time maintenance technician for county parks.
