Semi Rollover Crash at Roundabout Near Lancaster

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a semi rollover crash at the roundabout on U.S. Highway 61 and Highway 81 Saturday around 1:30pm. 61 year old Kyle Snyder of Lost Nation, Iowa, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 61, in a Peterbilt semi with a livestock trailer attached. The trailer had approximately 63 head of cattle in it. Snyder was approaching the roundabout and was negotiating a slight curve in the roadway, when he failed to yield the right of way, traveling over the center divider, and striking a roadway sign. The tractor trailer over turned onto the driver side, sliding south across the roundabout, and striking another roadway sign before coming to a rest and blocking the roundabout. A total of three cattle died as a result of the crash. Snyder was cited for Failure to Keep His Vehicle Under Control and had minor injuries from the crash.
