The Dubuque City Council voted, 7-0, Wednesday evening to set a September16th public hearing to discuss and possibly approve a development agreement to build a hotel complex at the Port of Dubuque. Kinseth Hospitality Co., has proposed the $30 million private construction of a pair of Marriott-branded hotels on city property. The developers negotiated an estimated $4.4 million rebate from tax-increment financing over 10 years from new property tax revenue raised at the site, which the city has offered to the developer for $800,000. The two hotels, Residence Inn by Marriot and Courtyard by Marriott, will be constructed as two wings of the same six-story building and share a concierge desk.
