A Baraboo man faces charges after he allegedly hit a bicyclist with an SUV and drove away. The bicyclist died at the scene. Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said deputies and paramedics were called to the area of Levee Road near North Hein Road in the township of Fairfield at around 5:11 p.m. on Tuesday. A 911 caller reported that a bicyclist was hit by an SUV and thrown into a ditch. The SUV continued eastbound on Levee Road towards the Columbia County line. The 911 caller was also a bicyclist, and started performing CPR. Baraboo Fire and EMS paramedics arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures, however the injured bicyclist died at the scene. The bicyclist was identified as 61-year-old Christin Harding of Baraboo. The driver of the SUV was identified as 31-year-old Taurean Johnson Putman of rural Baraboo.
