Asbury man sentenced for child porn

34-year-old Christopher Charles Smith of Asbury, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for distributing child pornography. Smith pleaded guilty on January 3 to using a messaging service to trade child pornography. In October 2022, he distributed three videos to an undercover law enforcement officer. United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Smith to 108 months in prison, followed by an eight-year term of supervised release. In the federal system, there is no parole. Smith remains in the United States Marshal’s custody pending transport to a federal prison. The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case, with prosecution by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick J. Reinert.
