Mark grew up in Darlington, Wisconsin and graduated from Darlington High School in 1977. He went to UW-Platteville and majored in Radio & Television Broadcasting and joined the campus radio station, WSUP, doing a variety of radio shows, plus play-by-play and color commentary of UW-Platteville football, basketball, and baseball. He has worked for radio stations in Freeport, Illinois; Dubuque, Iowa; Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Appleton, Wisconsin; Marquette, Michigan; Waupaca, Wisconsin; Monroe, Wisconsin; and Platteville, Wisconsin.
Mark’s association with QueenB Radio began while working for WGLR in Lancaster in 1992 and he later joined WEKZ in Monroe. In 1999, he joined QueenB Radio as the Operations Manager while continuing to do play-by-play and color commentary of college and high school sports. In 2013, he re-joined WEKZ, and then returned to QueenB Radio in 2015 to serve as the News and Sports Director. In 2006, Mark was presented the Joe Dommershausen Award for outstanding coverage and promotion of Home Talent League baseball on the radio. In 2012, Mark was a recipient of the 2012 Tom Butler Award by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Mark, and his wife, Deb, have been married since 1999 and live in Monroe, Wisconsin.
In high school and college, I always thought my dream would be to work as a Reporter where I could make a difference with the stories I share. I tried every type of journalism course I could find, but nothing was the right fit. After college, I took my passion for making a difference into the nonprofit sector, but I found myself drawn back to the media. It turns out radio was the right fit! I didn’t realize how much I missed the nights spent on-air on my college radio station KZOW at Waldorf University, until I was back in a studio with QueenB Radio.
Outside of work, I am a Board Member for Mental Health America of Dubuque County and volunteer with organizations such as Special Olympics Iowa and the Dubuque Dragon Boat Association. I’m also an avid reader and regularly bowl on league.
