MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County medical examiner has identified the woman killed in a fire on Madison’s west side earlier this week.
Fire officials said they found the woman dead inside an apartment unit Summit Hill Apartments on Mckenna Boulevard when they responded to a fire alarm call around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities said 63-year-old Myrrh P. Smith died from injuries in and because of the fire.
The fire displaced 27 other people.
The Madison Police Department, Madison Fire Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office are still investigating the fire and Myrrh’s death.
