MADISON, Wis. — A group of nurses and supporters held a rally inside the Wisconsin State Capitol Rotunda Thursday afternoon as part of the National Nurses March effort happening across the country.
As part of the push, nurses are calling for fair and realistic wages, equal opportunity employment, safe staffing levels and eliminating violence against health care workers, among other items, according to the effort’s website.
Demonstrators expressed hope that the effort would bring about positive changes in the health care industry for nurses and their patients.

A crowd of nurses also marched from the White House to the Washington Monument in the nation’s capital Thursday, CBS affiliate WUSA-TV reports.
