Dubuque Police responded to a residence on Central Avenue for a report of shots fired Saturday around 7pm. An initial investigation revealed that 30 year old Keywani Evans of Freeport, Illinois shot 20 year old Taiwon Jackson multiple times following a confrontation. Jackson was taken to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Then, during the early morning hours Sunday, officers utilized the city of Dubuque traffic cameras to locate and track Evans near Goodwill on Holliday Drive where he was taken into custody around 7:30am. Evans is charged with 1st Degree Murder and is being held on a $2 million cash bond. The charge carries a penalty of life in prison.Â
