MADISON, Wis. — Police officers in Madison responded to two separate shots fired calls early Wednesday morning.
The first incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. on the city’s north side.
The shots were fired into an occupied residence on the 1800 block of Sheridan Drive, just blocks away from Sherman Middle School.
No one in the house was hit or injured.
An active investigation is ongoing.
Madison police also responded to reports of shots fired around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Leland Drive near Balsam Road, close to the Walgreens off Whitney Way.
Officers found more than 15 shell casings at this scene.
No injuries or property damage was reported and there are no suspects at this time.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story reported that the home hit by gunfire overnight was on Sheridan Avenue rather than Sheridan Drive; a spokesperson for the Madison Police Department later said MPD staff mistakenly wrote “Sheridan Avenue” in the original incident report. The story has been updated to reflect that change.
