BOSCOBEL, Wis. (WKBT) — A Boscobel man will spend seven and a half years in prison for his role in a drive-by shooting in the La Crosse area.
Wesley Dollar was sentenced in La Crosse County Circuit Court Wednesday. After his release, Dollar will spend another five years on supervision.
The 31-year-old was convicted of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon, possessing a firearm as a felon, and bail jumping.
In December, prosecutors say Dollar, who was free on bond at the time, drove through a Holmen neighborhood and fired one round into a house, using a high-powered rifle.
One person was injured.
“You recklessly endangered the safety of a human being under circumstances that show utter disregard for human life,” said La Crosse County Circuit Court Judge Ramona Gonzalez. “This is a sentence about punishment.”
During the sentencing, Dollar apologized to the victim and said he deserves to be punished. He went on to say he hopes, at some point, to be rehabilitated back into society.
