JUNEAU, Wis. — The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a Dane County woman days after she allegedly sped away from a traffic stop.
The sheriff’s office says it stopped the woman, a 42-year-old from Mazomanie, just before 7 p.m. on Monday, August 22 on Highway 151 near Redwood Road in the town of Trenton in Dodge County. A sergeant with the sheriff’s office says the woman lied to him about her identity before eventually speeding away from the traffic stop.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the woman drove north onto County Highway M before losing control, hitting the sergeant’s squad car, and crashing into a corn field on Milligan Road. The woman then allegedly ran away through the corn field and could not be found during a search using a K9 team and a drone that evening.
Authorities say a woman matching her description was reportedly seen in the Waupun area the next afternoon, but they were unable to find her, leading to them issuing a notice to the community.
In the early-morning hours of Wednesday, authorities got a report of a woman yelling for help at a home on S. Madison Street in Waupun. When authorities responded, the woman was identified as the same one who sped off during the traffic stop on Monday, and she was arrested.
The woman faces a possible felony charge of fleeing and eluding a police officer, but charges have not yet been filed in Dodge County Court.
