WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. — Authorities in Walworth County say a SWAT team was called early Thursday morning after getting reports of a man with a gun threatening people at a house party.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Communication Center got a 911 call just after 2 a.m. Thursday. County deputies and officers from the East Troy Police Department were on scene less than 10 minutes later and found at least 20 people in and around the house.
Police say the man suspected of threatening people with a gun ran from the house and shot at officers before disappearing into the woods nearby. A SWAT team and a SMART (Suburban Mutual Assistance Response Team) responded to help secure the area and look for the man. People living in the area also got an alert on their phones overnight warning them of the armed man in the area.
Eventually, the man was found and arrested. Police say nobody was injured in the incident. Authorities did not provide any additional information about the man who was arrested.
Witnesses are still being interviewed and evidence is being collected as part of the investigation, which is ongoing. Police say there is no longer any threat to the public.
