MADISON, Wis. — Madison mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has submitted her nomination papers to the city clerk’s office as she looks to win a second term in office.
Rhodes-Conway posted a picture online Friday morning showing herself at the clerk’s office with nomination papers in hand. A list of candidate filings on the city clerk’s website confirms that Rhodes-Conway has submitted her nomination signatures and that the list has been audited.
The only other candidate to file with the city clerk’s office, former deputy mayor and MMSD board president Gloria Reyes, has also submitted her nomination papers and had the signatures audited, according to city records.
In order to get on the ballot, candidates for mayor need to collect at least 200 valid signatures — and a maximum number of 400 signatures — from people who live inside the city by Jan. 3. Signatures must be accompanied by the person’s legibly-printed name, as well as the date of the signature and their complete address.

Rhodes-Conway, who was first elected in 2019, announced her plans to run for a second term on Nov. 20. She is Madison’s first openly gay mayor and only the second woman to serve as mayor.
Reyes, who was one of former mayor Paul Soglin’s deputy mayors, launched her campaign on Nov. 10.
The mayoral election will be part of the spring election ballot on April 4.
