BELOIT, Wis. — A Beloit man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison and three years of supervised release for distributing crack cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin said.
Marcus Payton previously pleaded guilty to the charge in October, the office said in a news release.
According to the release, a police informant told them Payton was distributing crack cocaine in the Beloit area in January. The informant then, under police supervision, bought crack cocaine from him twice.
At the time, Payton was on supervised release for a drug distribution conviction from 2014. Judge William Conley also sentenced Payton to two years in prison for violating the terms of his release, which Payton will serve concurrent with the six-year sentence.
