A man who sold crack cocaine near three Dubuque playgrounds was sentenced Tuesday to more than 15 years in federal prison. 35 year old Orlandis Murriel of Dubuque received a 188-month prison term in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. A release states that Murriel pleaded guilty in May to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near a protected location. U.S. District Court Judge C.J. Williams also ordered Murriel to serve six years of supervised release after the prison term. Murriel admitted that between June and November 27, 2022 while living in Dubuque, he sold more than 2,400 grams of cocaine base, commonly known as crack cocaine.
