Five local volunteer fire departments have received grants from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Cascade, Centralia/Peosta, Greeley, Key West and Maquoketa fire departments are among 131 rural fire departments in Iowa receiving more than $415,000 total in 50% cost-share grants to assist efforts to fight wildfires. The grants provide assistance for wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment.
