A Dubuque man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman. 46 year old Jason Schmidt received the sentence from Iowa District Court Judge Thomas Bitter in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to third-degree sexual abuse and commission of a sexually violent offense while failing to comply with the sex abuse registry. The charges stem from a February incident in which Schmidt sexually assaulted a then-24-year-old woman while holding a boxcutter-style knife to her throat while parked in a vehicle at Mines of Spain State Recreation Area.
