TRENTON, Wis. — An 88-year-old bicyclist died Sunday after being hit by a pickup truck on a Dodge County highway.
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to County Highway AW and East Rock River Road just before 5:30 p.m.
According to the deputies’ investigation, the bicyclist was traveling south on East Rock River Road approaching a stop sign at the intersection with County Highway AW. At the same time, the truck was driving east on the highway, approaching the intersection with East Rock River Road. When the bicyclist entered the intersection to turn left onto the highway, the truck hit them.
Authorities said the biker was airlifted to UW Hospital where they died a day later.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Dodge County Medical Examiner are still investigating the crash. The Waupun Fire Department and Flight for Life helped with the response.
