MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are searching for a man who broke into a downtown apartment Wednesday afternoon.
Officers said they first responded to the 600 block of North Henry Street around 4:30 p.m. When they arrived, the victim told police the suspect first knocked on their window around 3:30 p.m., asked for a family member and lingered in the area before entering the apartment building.
Once he was inside the building, the suspect reportedly broke into the victim’s unit, again asking for a family member and saying he was indicted by federal law enforcement before he left.
The victim was unharmed and nothing was stolen, according to an incident report.
The suspect was described as a heavy-set Black man with short, possibly braided hair and stubbled facial hair. He was wearing a white T-shi9rt, black pants and black shoes.
Police said their investigation is ongoing.
