MADISON, Wis. — More than 50 wounded veterans and first responders stopped in Madison Thursday as part of a therapy bike ride.
Project Hero organized the ride, which started in Minneapolis and will finish in Chicago on Saturday.
The organization says cycling helps wounded veterans regain the sense of family and unity they felt while in the military.
“We do these rides to give these veterans epic things to accomplish again, and doing it with the Project Hero family helps restore that unit identity that they lost when they were wounded or retired, or however their service ended,” ride director Joseph Coddington said. “It gives them a chance to feel that again.”
Project Hero is a national non-profit that helps veterans and first responders coping with a variety of struggles.
