JANESVILLE, Wis. — The School District of Janesville held a back-to-school kickoff for staff members Thursday morning.
The event marked the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that all staff members gathered together.
While some school districts, including the Madison Metropolitan School District, continue to see dozens — or more — teacher and staff openings just days before students return to the classroom, district spokesperson Patrick Gasper said the district has hired well over 200 teachers and staff members this summer.
“We’re doing really well. (There are) still a couple more (jobs) to fill, but we’re feeling very confident that we’ll be able to get the year off to a good start,” he said.
Students in Janesville head back to class on Sept. 1.
