School officials at Belmont have decided to switch to a virtual learning format for the rest of this week. The announcement came on Monday after administrators found out a 2nd student had tested positive for COVID-19. The Belmont School District will use today (Tues) as a staff planning day – and then virtual-packet learning will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All practices and athletic contests this week for Belmont will be cancelled and the district hopes to reschedule them.
Also, district officials in Potosi notified families Monday a staff member there has tested positive for COVID-19. In a letter, Potosi administrators wrote that this staff member does not typically have direct contact with students. School officials say they’re working with the Grant County Health Department to quickly identify, notify, and quarantine anyone who may have had close contact with that staff member. The letter did not indicate any changes to the instructional model for Potosi schools.
