FORT MCCOY, Wis. — Fort McCoy announced Saturday night that the Department of Defense has approved a request for assistance from the State Department to provide temporary housing, sustainment, and support inside the United States for specific Afghan Special Immigration Visa applications and their families, and other vulnerable Afghans, at Fort McCoy.
According to a news release, the support is in addition to that provided at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Fort Lee, Virginia.
“This initiative follows through on America’s commitment to Afghans who helped the United States,” the release said.
The full details of this support are still being worked out, and updates will be provided when they are available.
