LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Kwik Trip opened the doors to its new child care center Tuesday in hopes of helping area families.
John McHugh, Kwik Trip’s public relations director, says it has been hard for its employees to find childcare – and this is one solution.
“Childcare is a necessity for young parents, and it’s often a bit of a hassle sometimes to find it. So we wanted to provide an opportunity for families to have a great place to bring their children,” McHugh said.
Kwik Trip employs 3,000 people in the area, many who have young children.
Organizers say this was the perfect option.
This child care center is a partnership with Bright Horizons.
Though many child care centers have struggled to find staffing, Bright Horizon’s regional vice president Jami Behrens says Bright Horizons has benefits that will help keep its providers around.
“We do have ratios that we have to meet, so many teachers, so many children. So it’s a really great way to get people to work for bright horizons who want to have that career in early childhood,” Behrens said.
The center is located in the former La Crosse Wellness Center Building on Darling Court.
It has classrooms, an art room and a library onsite.
Care is only available for Kwik Trip employees.
