TOWN OF NEWTON, Wis. — A 24-year-old man from Portage died Friday night in a single-car crash in Marquette County.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man was driving on County Highway JJ when his car tried to round a curve, but instead crossed the centerline, went off the road and entered a ditch.
A news release said the car then hit several small trees and rolled before coming to rest against a large tree.
Officials said the driver was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
