MADISON, Wis. — One woman was displaced Friday after a fire broke out in her living room wall.
Crews with the Madison Fire Department responded Friday morning to the 300 block of Crocus Circle after a woman called reporting smoke in her living room. When crews arrived, they found smoke at the ceiling, but they couldn’t find the source. Thermal imaging cameras didn’t flag any obvious heat signatures.
Firefighters were able to track the thickness of the smoke which helped them pinpoint the area they thought the smoke was coming from. When they opened up the wall in that area they found burned insulation, burned wiring and burning embers.
Crews then turn off the electricity to put out the burning materials. Firefighters also set up a fan to help with ventilation.
Because of shut off utilities, the woman was displaced. The American Red Cross is helping her in the meantime.
