Police say a man allegedly ignited a fire early Sunday morning near a Dubuque residence. 47 year old Steve Lyons of Dubuque was arrested at 2:50 a.m. Sunday on a charge of first-degree arson and a warrant charging second-degree theft. Authorities reported hearing two large bangs at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the area of Loras Boulevard and Bluff Street and discovered a fire burning in a pile of brush outside a residence on Locust Street. The fire spread to a fence and wooden pallets. The Dubuque Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Authorities estimated the damage at $1,000. Officers responded to the address and with traffic camera footage identified Lyons as the individual who ignited the fire and he was taken into custody.
