LAVALLE, Wis. — A woman was killed and a man was airlifted to a local hospital Saturday after their motorcycle was hit by an SUV on a Sauk County Highway.
Authorities with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said they were dispatched shortly before 5 p.m. for multiple reports of an SUV vs. motorcycle crash on State Highway 33, east of Emerald Drive.
When deputies arrived, they found both vehicles — a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2016 Jeep Cherokee — blocking the eastbound lane of the highway. Both occupants of the motorcycle had been ejected during the crash.
The motorcycle driver, a 61-year-old man from Reedsburg, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. The passenger, a 61-year-old woman from Reedsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, a 38-year-old woman from LaValle, was uninjured.
According to an incident report, the roadway was closed for roughly four hours while crews investigated the crash.
The LaValle Fire Department, Reedsburg Fire Department, Reedsburg emergency medical services and MedFlight helped with the response.
