JANESVILLE, Wis. — A Rock County man was sentenced Thursday to nine years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin said.
Eshawn Reed, 40, pleaded guilty Thursday to distributing crack cocaine and possessing a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to a news release. In addition to the nine-year prison sentence, he was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.
Reed was arrested in August 2021 after Janesville police officers bought crack cocaine from him three times last year using a confidential informant, the release said. On Aug. 10, 2021, Beloit police officers tried to stop Reed while he was driving, but Reed took off.
Officers later found his vehicle abandoned in the 2900 block of Park Avenue. Inside, officials said, was more than a kilogram of marijuana, 25 grams of crack cocaine and more than $20,000 in cash, as well as a loaded handgun which Reed was not allowed to possess due to multiple prior felony convictions. Police arrested Reed nearby.

At the time of his arrest, Reed was on state supervision for three felony cases.
